The IC698CPE010 is a Central Processing Unit from the GE Fanuc RX7i series. This device is capable of controlling industrial machinery and material processes in real-time. It communicates with other devices and modules through a VME64 connection backplane mounted to the rack.
The IC698CPE010 has a 300MHz Celeron microprocessor capable of performing floating point calculations. The standard speed of each Boolean function is 0.33ms per coil. Other features of this device include but are not limited to the following: three embedded serial ports and two Ethernet ports, bit-in-word reference support, symbolic variable support, a Test Edit mode, and data monitoring over the web.
This device has 10 megabytes of RAM memory for data and programming information. This memory is sustained by a CMOS battery. An additional 10 megabytes of non-volatile flash memory (NVRAM) is also provided. The operating system firmware data is stored in flash memory. Firmware can be updated without taking apart the device or replacing the EPROMs.
There are two means to operate the IC698CPE010: the three-position run/stop switch and connecting the device to a computer and running the appropriate software. Connecting this device to a computer is possible via the serial or Ethernet ports. Note: Using the Ethernet port will require IP addressing and a Cat5 cable. For serial connections, the SNP protocol is used. For configuration and programming of this device, Proficy Machine Edition PLC-Logic Developer software is used on the attached computer. Configuration data is secured with a password.
Follow the instructions in the product manual while installing the IC698CPE010. Disable rack power. Document the Media Access Control (MAC) address of the device. Securely mount and ground the device into slot one of the rack, the designated CPU slot. Connect the Ethernet and serial ports. Re-enable power to the rack. Connect the CMOS battery to one of the connectors. Begin programming the device.
